Buying a newly constructed home comes with its share of benefits, and today I’ll list the top three.
Buying a newly constructed home comes with some major advantages, and here are the three greatest.
1. Energy efficiency. Energy-efficient home features lower your monthly utility bills, and many of today’s new construction homes are rated by the Residential Energy Services Network, which assigns each home a score. This score is readily available to homebuyers to use when comparing the energy efficiency of different homes. In addition to how much money they can save you, energy-efficient homes also have a higher average resale value.
2. Fewer headaches. Why purchase a home that needs new paint, carpet, flooring, etc.? In a newly constructed home, everything is brand new—you don’t have to worry about any nasty grease smells, scuffed-up baseboards, or well-worn floors. Shoddy home maintenance isn’t a concern either. That kind of peace of mind is priceless.
3. The opportunity to customize. The ability to take a blank slate and impose your personal tastes onto it is the biggest reason homebuyers choose a newly constructed home over a resale property. One of the prime features you can choose is location. Oftentimes, you’ll be able to choose which lot you want to live on in the community. Another feature you’ll be able to control is the home’s flow. In other words, if you buy it before it’s built, you may be able to dictate where certain rooms are built. You can also pick the home’s design features, from the wall color to the flooring to the cabinetry.
